Kraftbomb
The lovely Kraftbomb was my last market of the year - time to replenish some stock, put my feet up and play the ukulele to the cat. Here's the stall, gradually growing taller now that I've got my new Millicent Crow sign!
After the market we spotted a tree full of teddy bears:
Now that's my kind of Xmas tree...
...and a moa peeking out of the bushes!

My creative space: floral pouches
I took some of these new floral pouches to my last market - they're made out of an old curtain (which I would have loved to make into a dress but blue is not my colour). They're small camera or trinket sized, and lined with beige spotty dotty fabric.
I've got plenty of that old curtain left so I'm going to make some bigger pouches and bags out of it too.
And here's some small town op shopping eye candy for you - from Cambridge and Putaruru. I was really really tempted by that taxidermy book but I'm not sure when I'll have cause to taxidermy a trout!

Happy last Thursday before Xmas!

Xmas Kraftbomb this Sunday
My final market of the year is the Xmas Kraftbomb this Sunday, 23rd of December at the Grey Lynn community centre. I'm hoping to test out my new ex-post office card stand that I bought in Paraparaumu the other day. Might see you there for some last minute shopping mall avoidance?

Craft Country
This is me at the top of the Rimutaka hill on my way to the Craft Country fair in Greytown on Saturday. Craft Country is a fair I really enjoy and the last one I went to was in 2010, when Mr. Millicent Crow and I journeyed down on the train for it. There's something magical about getting to the top of the Rimutaka hill and seeing the Wairarapa unfold, especially in the wee small hours when the coffee hasn't quite kicked in. The fair was part of a whirlwind trip down the island and I met some lovely people; unfortunately I didn't get much of a chance to look around but the stalls were beautifully set up.
I rustled up these new pouches the day before:...and used my new Millicent Crow sign for the first time.
After driving down from Auckland the day before and from Wellington that morning I was pretty sleep deprived and frazzled, so it was lovely to have some time to potter around Greytown in the afternoon.
We had a coffee at Cuckoo, walked along a country road to the edge of town, and were farewelled by a flock of pure white doves as we headed back towards Wellington, bound for Island Bay fish and chips and more driving, driving, driving.
Here are my photos from Craft Country in 2010...

My creative space: embroidered pouches
I've finally made some pouches from this skirt - it was a giant '70s wraparound number - and they'll be coming to Craft Country with me this Saturday. They're lined with a former pillowcase and strengthened with a bit of interfacing.
I'm also working on some that are made from old curtain fabric with the best retro flowers, so fingers crossed I'll have those ready for the market too. My next job for today is to brave the mall to pick up the Millicent Crow sign I'm having printed...wish me luck!
How about you, what have you been making?

First Thursdays
If you go across the road...
Past all the bikes...
...and the colourful vintage shops...
...or past the lovely-smelling beeswax sculpture if you're coming from the other direction...
...you'll find my stall at First Thursdays.
There it is!
And what a lovely market it was. Next up on the market calendar is Craft Country Wairarapa (and hopefully a lengthy visit to the wonderful op shops of Putaruru on the way). Looking forward to it!

Auckland Art and Craft Fair
\
Whew, what a busy week! These hands have been getting a workout making things for my market stalls - today I put on my sailor suit and set up my stall at the wonderful Auckland Art and Craft Fair. I had some new wares today - my red and green leaves prints, cards with the same red and green leaves, and some new resin cameo brooches.
With my sister, who was my market buddy for some of the day
Some close ups of the stall:
My view at closing time - my stall neighbours Jena Rae Jewellery had the most beautful antlers to hang their necklaces on.
After the fair I was ready for a bit of this.
Thanks Jess and Kylie for organising it, it was a great day!
