Grey dresses for grey days

I've been making a couple of grey dresses to go with the grey weather outside.
This first one, a rare foray into knit fabrics, is made out of some kind of merino blendy thing and is McCalls M6112. It's a bit clingy, but (hopefully) nothing a slip won't fix, and is toasty warm.

This one's made of grey wool crepe - it's a bit institutional-looking and I possibly have enough of this fabric to make some kind of set of uniforms! It's from my go-to pattern, Vogue 1923, like this one and this one and this one and this one. I originally gave it big patch pockets on the front but they screamed 'homemade' and had to go.

How about you, do you have a favourite go to pattern that you make over and over again?

On the last day of winter I saw

A gorgeous shed that looks like it's in the middle of nowhere, despite being minutes out of the city.
A plant growing out of a teapot
Some wall beautification
Some colourful letterboxes
Someone who wants their dog to be mayor!
The most beautiful magnolia tree
And another rainstorm coming in from the west.

I spy

I won't bore you for too long talking about the weather, but I don't think it has stopped raining for about 3 weeks. Just saying. So yesterday on my way home from work on a rainy Friday I decided to see what colourful things I could spy with my camera. Turns out there was plenty of colour on a grey day...

I also spied these pigeons up on a ledge...

And here they are up close.
Hope there's some colour in your weekend!

Winter trees

...seem to feature in most of my photos lately. I like their silhouettes and the way that when the leaves fall off the trees you can see all the birds' nests. You can kind of see some in this last photo if you squint really hard.
